Casa da Maria is a traditional fisherman’s house, lovingly restored in 2018, located right by the Alvor Estuary. It accommodates up to four guests in two bedrooms – one with a double bed and the other with bunk beds – and includes a bathroom with a shower. The house is fully equipped for a comfortable stay, featuring Wi-Fi, air conditioning in the living room, and satellite TV. From the spacious terrace, enjoy stunning views over the unique Alvor Estuary.

The space

We make a point of providing all the equipment and amenities we believe are essential for a comfortable and worry-free stay.

Bed linen, towels and toiletries:
Bath and face towels, bed sheets, shower gel, hand soap or gel, toilet paper, and kitchen paper.

Appliances:
Electric oven, stove, microwave, fridge with freezer, electric kettle, Delta Q coffee machine, and hand blender.

Kitchen utensils:
Cooking knives and utensils, pots and pans, cutlery, plates, glasses, mugs, and wine glasses.

Laundry and cleaning equipment:
Washing machine, iron and ironing board, drying rack, vacuum cleaner, broom and dustpan, mop and bucket, dishwasher.

The neighbourhood

Alvor is a charming coastal village in the Algarve that still preserves much of its traditional fishing heritage – visible in its whitewashed houses, cobbled streets, and the colourful boats that gather at the old fish market after a day at sea.

Wandering through the narrow streets of the old town, where the Moorish influence is still present in the architecture and small domed chapels (morabitos), offers stunning views over the rooftops and the breathtaking scenery of the Alvor Estuary.

The peaceful mornings and the magical colours of the sunset mirrored in the calm waters of the estuary are moments you’ll never forget.

This tranquil natural setting is home to dozens of migratory bird species, thriving wetlands, and traditional fishing practices that still survive today. The wooden boardwalks, stretching over 6 km, are perfect for long walks and offer several birdwatching spots.

Being so close to the sea, Alvor’s gastronomy is rich and varied. Along the waterfront and throughout the village, you'll find local restaurants (and more), as well as cafés and bars where you can unwind in the late afternoon or enjoy the lively evening atmosphere.

Alvor strikes a rare balance between the vibrancy of a beachside tourist village and the authenticity of its people, traditions, and cultural heritage.

House rules

We want to ensure our home is always in excellent condition for you and future guests. For that reason, we kindly ask for your attention to the following points, which are part of the House Rules and the Accommodation Agreement accepted upon confirming your booking.

Care for the house
Please treat the house, furniture, equipment, and linens as if they were your own.
If something breaks, malfunctions or gets damaged, please contact our concierge as soon as possible so we can fix or replace it in time for your stay or the next guests.

Security and energy use
Whenever you leave the house, please close all windows and doors carefully and turn off the air conditioning or any non-essential appliances to avoid energy waste or risks.

Check-in and check-out
Check-in and check-out times are flexible, depending on availability and confirmation.
Out-of-hours check-in or check-out may incur an additional fee, which will be communicated in advance.

Municipal Tourist Tax (Portimão)
This tax applies to all guests aged 13 or older:
€1/person/night from November 1 to March 31
€2/person/night from April 1 to October 31
It is charged for a maximum of 7 nights per person per stay.
This regulation came into force on March 14, 2024.

Extra cleaning and laundry deposit
For bookings during seasonal events or special occasions, we reserve the right to request a €250 deposit, charged via Airbnb as an “Extra Service”.
If the deposit is not paid, we reserve the right to decline or cancel the reservation.
If no additional cleaning or laundry is needed, the deposit will be refunded within 8 days after check-out.

Guest registration
Before or during check-in, all guests who are not residents in Portugal must provide basic information and show identification, as required by Portuguese law (Art. 45 of the Schengen Agreement).

Pets
Pets are not allowed by default. If you wish to bring a pet, please contact us before making your booking.

Access to the property
Only guests registered at check-in are allowed to stay or sleep in the house.
No other person is allowed on the premises without prior notice.

Cleaning and linen
The rate includes:
Bed linen and towels
Hand soap or gel
Shower gel

For stays longer than a week, we provide a mid-stay cleaning with linen change.
Additional cleanings can be arranged depending on availability and may incur an extra fee.

Noise
Between 11:00 PM and 7:00 AM, guests must respect the official quiet hours in Portugal.

Smoking
This is a non-smoking house. Smoking is only allowed in outdoor areas, and always use an ashtray.

Parties and events
Parties and disruptive behaviour are strictly prohibited. We ask all guests to avoid any noise or activity that may disturb neighbours or damage the property.

Check-out
On departure:
Leave the house tidy
Take all personal belongings
Remove the rubbish and place it in the outside bins (location available in the Welcome Book)
Separate waste properly

Guests have exclusive access to the entire house.

Interaction with guests

We want you to have a memorable experience in Alvor, so we start communicating with you before your arrival to ensure everything is well prepared.

On the day of check-in, we will be waiting for you at the house to hand over the keys, show you around, and answer any questions you may have.
